Saigontourist Group, in collaboration with Thanh Nien Newspaper and HCMC Youth Union, on the evening of September 9, organized the 16th Mid-Autumn Festival event at Dam Sen Theme Park in HCMC for 550 children orphaned by the pandemic in the city.
Nguyen Ho Hai, deputy secretary of the HCMC Party Committee, and Phan Thị Thang, vice chairman of the HCMC People’s Committee, joined the event apart from leaders of the Central Youth Union and departments, HCMC Youth Union, District 11, and the press. Pham Huy Binh, chairman of Saigontourist Group, and Nguyen Ngoc Toan, editor-in-chief of Thanh Nien Newspaper, were representatives of hosted organizers.
The children and their relatives had a joyful and memorable Mid-Autumn Festival night. They participated in folk games with Lady Hang and Uncle Cuoi (legendary characters of the festival) besides carrying lanterns and enjoying local specialties. The children especially received meaningful gifts from the organizers.
Previously, from September 6 to 8, 2022, the Mid-Autumn Festival festivals were held for 116 children in BacKan, Cao Bang, and Daklak provinces. In addition to joining festive activities and experiencing mooncakes, those children received gifts, including lanterns, bags, notebooks, and scholarships.
Nguyen Dong Hoa, Deputy general director of Saigontourist Group, said: “As part of the program, namely Saigontourist Group for the community, Mid-Autumn Festival is a social event organized annually by Saigontourist Group from 2006”. In addition to poor children studying hard from remote and mountainous area – the main targets of the program, this year’s festival was also for children heavily affected by the pandemic, added Nguyen Dong Hoa, who is also head of the “Saigontourist Group for the Community” program.
 

Funds for this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival program come from the “Saigontourist Group for the community” golf tournament in 2022, the community budget of Saigontourist Group, and the group’s member units.
In additiong to implementing effective business strategies, Saigontourist Group also demonstrates its corporate social responsibility (CSR) through the “Saigontourist Group for the community” program, which has been organized in past years.
In 2021, Saigontourist Group and its member units greatly supported the whole country and the city to overcome the difficulties caused by Covid-19. They had turned into logistics facilities, effective supporting epidemic prevention and control, supplying meals, accommodation, and mental health for medical workers and doctors. Hundreds of thousands of hotel guestrooms, millions of meals, 5000 bowls of pho, and dozens of tours were for hard-working medical staff members who did noble tasks for people and the community.
From 2017 to 2020, following the direction of the HCMC party Committee and the HCMC People’s Committee, the Saigontourist Group donated a combined amount of VND 10billion to four communes of Can Gio District, helping them improve production and daily lives. Moreover, member units of Saigontourist Group do CSR works worth tens of billion of dong annually.
