A Summer Trip to Tuy Hoa Province on the Central Coast and Relax at Saigon - Phu Yen Hotel

Land of “Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass”

Since the release of the movie “I see Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass” by director Victor Vu in 2015, the “Sleeping Girl” Phu Yen was suddenly awakened by the waves of tourists from all over. The poetic movie adaptation of writer Nguyen Nhat Anh’s tall tales of the same name have made this peaceful land in the Central Coast region more attractive and inviting. The honesty and sincerity portrayed in the movie is exactly how Phu Yen captivates visitors.
If you are a fan of the movie, you definitely cannot miss Xep Beach (Bai Xep), where the beautiful scenes in the movie were filmed, which has become a favorite check-in spot for many tourists. Located in An Chan commune, Tuy An district and about 10 km north of Tuy Hoa—the main city of Phu Yen province—Bai Xep is surrounded by two rocky cliffs, Ganh Ong and Ganh Ba, that reach out to the sea. Here, there is a charming beach with clear blue waters, and white sand that gently curves like a crescent, creating an especially poetic landscape. You will quickly use up some camera memory space at the stone steps that lead to this magical scene. Few can withhold their joy as they step foot on the green grassy hill in Ganh Ong, which has been immortalized in the kite flying scene full of childhood nostalgia.
From here, you can visit Yen islet, located in front of Bai Xep, highlighted by red mountains, ideal for viewing coral. In Phu Yen, there is also an enchanting island that captivates all at first sight, which is Hon Nua, inviting visitors with its translucent sapphire-blue waters, like the Maldives of Vietnam.

In addition to Bai Xep, located on the coastal road connecting Tuy Hoa City to the North, there are also the scenic clusters of Da Dia Reef, O Loan Lagoon, Om Beach, and Vung Me hamlet. From National Highway 1, to reach Ganh Da Dia, follow the DH31 Route—the ideal route for cycling, enjoying the peaceful village scenery with bamboo thickets, rice fields, areca trees, and paper flower that are planted in straight rows along both sides of the road.
In Tuy An, there is another interesting check-in spot, the Ong Cop Bridge, built with trees over a lagoon. According to local people, each year after the flood season, people have to maintain the bridge by replacing the damaged wood and trees.
You should also visit Mang Lang Church, nearly 130 years old, which is also located in Tuy An district. The church is impressive with its Gothic architecture and especially as the place that holds the first national script of the priest Alexandre de Rhodes, printed in 1651 in Rome, Italy. Among ancient architectural heritage in Phu Yen, there is also Cham Tower on Nhan Mountain, located in Tuy Hoa City. Built around the 11th century, the tower has been classified as a national art-architecture monument. From the 64 meter tall mountain, you can take in panoramic views of the mountain, the river and of Tuy Hoa City.

A peaceful haven near Ba River

If you choose Tuy Hoa for your summer vacation, an excellent resort is the 4-star Saigon Phu Yen Hotel, the first luxury accommodation in Phu Yen, which was built before the home province’s tourism began to transform. Located in the city center on the banks of the peaceful Ba River, the hotel offers guests feelings of peace. Every morning, right from the bedroom window, you can welcome the sparkling dawn on the river water or contemplate the whole city hidden behind the morning mist.

The hotel features modern designs and is fully equipped with 87 bedrooms, providing a full range of services for both individual guests and groups, including events, seminars, conferences, full-service weddings, bar, coffee, medicine bath, massage, and car rentals of all kinds. In particular, the over 2,000 m2 garden is an ideal space to organize outdoor activities such as campfires, gala dinners, teambuilding...

Not only is it a stop for many near and far tourists during their trip to the tranquil city of the Central Coast, Saigon Phu Yen Hotel is also a famous culinary address in Tuy Hoa. When here, do not forget to explore the attractive collection of specialties, only available at Saigon - Phu Yen. Working as a “bandmaster” in the hotel’s kitchen since 2015, chef Nguyen Thien Hoang has created and crafted many “exclusive” dishes based on the specialties of the homeland. The most impressive creation is the fried dong spring rolls (cha ram dong). Or, the tuna eyes dish, but through his skillful hands, the dish is delicately processed so that it does not have a fishy smell and retains its fragrant and sweet flavors. Chef Nguyen can transform tuba into various dishes, such as tuna with sautéed pepper sauce, ginseng soup... Many visitors who come back to the hotel often ask for the grilled beef with Nhi fish sauce (bo nuong cham nuoc mam nhi), steamed beef, snails, and Vietnamese ham with periwinkles in betel leaves are the delicacies of the hotel.
From now until June 30, Saigon-Phu Yen Hotel offers a special room rate from VND650,000 per night. In addition, guests will get a voucher worth VND500,000 when booking wedding party from 11 to 15 tables, a voucher worth VND1 million when booking wedding party from 16 tables, and a mace of gold when booking wedding party from 50 tables Couples will receive a voucher worth VND1million when hosting events from 21 tables or more.
Mr. Nguyen Thien Hoang said that he had traveled to many places to learn the art of cooking. “One of my secrets to making diners happy is to create dishes that suit the customer’s regional taste.” Coming to Saigon - Phu Yen Hotel on the right occasion, you can also watch a cooking show from the hotel’s talented and experienced chef.
