The World MICE Awards is an event developed from the World Travel Awards, which is likened to the Oscars in the global travel and tourism industry. The World MICE Awards is intended to foster the growth and innovation of MICE tourism on a global scale. MICE is a type of tourism that combines conferences, seminars, exhibitions, events, and incentive travel. Also within the framework of the World MICE Awards 2021, Ho Chi Minh City continues to be honoured as Asia's Best MICE Destination.

Located in the center of Phu My Hung New Urban Area (District 7, Ho Chi Minh City), the overall SECC center is built on an area of 115,214 m2, designed by Nikken Sekkei (Japan). This is a leading rendezvous of the MICE industry and the fairs - exhibitions industry, the most prominent of which is the ITE HCMC (Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo), the largest annual tourism trade event of the Mekong sub-region countries.

SECC Center is the only place in the country and one of the Southeast Asia exhibition halls that meets the international standards of engineering, construction and space of the exhibition industry. In which, exhibition hall A welcomed the first event on October 30, 2008. And in November 2021, exhibition hall B was officially introduced. Connected to each other, halls A and B create an event space up to 18,000 m2, equivalent to 1,000 standard booths. The Center is accompanied by convenient facilities, new functional spaces, typically the restaurant system which is expanded up to 1,100 m2 with 6 kitchen areas. This is convenient for serving a variety of dishes from different types of cuisine from Asia to Europe, satisfying the taste of customers who come to trade at SECC.

Since its opening in 2008, each year, SECC has welcomed hundreds of events, with more than 7,000 exhibitors and over 1 million visitors from more than 50 countries. The expected total annual revenue when Exhibitor A and Exhibitor B is put into operation synchronously is over 500 billion VND, and at the same time can serve millions of MICE visitors to Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam.
