Speaking at the Saint Petersburg-Vietnam tourism forum, leaders of Saigontourist Holding Company (Saigontourist) pledged to continue promoting tourism in the two countries, contributing to the Vietnam-Russia comprehensive partnership as well as the cooperation between Saint Petersburg and HCMC.

The tourism forum, taking place on October 20 in Saint Petersburg, was held by the Saint Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development and the Committee for External Relations of Saint Petersburg. The two-day event, which is one of the events during the Cross Year of Russia and Vietnam, attracted 120 guests from two countries.

Vietnam, Russia are tourist attractions 

Russia is Vietnam’s leading tourism market with more than 600,000 Russian tourists to Vietnam every year on average. Travel firms, hotels, and resorts managed by Saigontourist serve over 100,000 Russian tourists each year. Some subsidiaries under Saigontourist have set up departments tasked solely with touristsfrom this key market.

Several Saigontourist’s luxury hotels and resorts are known to many Russian travelers and Russian communities in Vietnam. Some in HCMCare Rex Saigon, Majestic Saigon, Grand Saigon, Caravelle Saigon and New World Saigon. Beach hotels and resorts of the company are also favorites of Russian tourists, such as Saigon-Phu Quoc, Saigon-Mui Ne. Saigon-Ninh Chu, Yasaka Saigon-NhaTrang, Saigon-Ha Long, etc.

Saigontourist Travel Service Company, a member of Saigontourist, has served thousands of Russian tourists on their Vietnam tours.

The company has provided tours of Russia to thousands of Vietnamese, especially those who used to live and work in Russia. 

Over the years, Saigontourist Travel Service Company has introduced attractive tours of Russia, such as the 10-day tour of Moscowand Saint Petersburg, and the 11-day tour of Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Kaliningrad. All tours of Russia include a three- or five-day stay in SaintPetersburg. The company has also cooperated with big airlines like QatarAirways, Turkish Airlines, who operate direct flights to Saint Petersburg.

Tourism development enhances comprehensive cooperation 

At the Saint Petersburg-Vietnamtourism forum, the important of the Russia-Vietnam relation was reaf-firmed.

The HCMC government has assigned Saigontourist to the task of implementing the HCMC culture-tourism-economy center project in Saint Petersburg. This endeavor is expected to help tighten the relation between the two countries in general and the two cities in particular in the fields of culture, economy and tourism, said Pham Huy Binh, chairman of Saigontourist Holding Company.

In May, Saigontourist joined the event “HCMC Day in Saint Petersburg” in celebration of the Cross Year of Russia and Vietnam 2019. At the Vietnamese cuisine festival at Pho’n’Roll restaurant in Saint Petersburg on May 25, chefs from Saigontourist’s system introduced Vietnamese dishes to locals there.

At the end of 2018, Saigontourist Travel Service Company signed a cooperation agreement with Russia-based Golden Age Group to lure moretourists to the two countries. In order to attract Russian tourists, aside from focusing on products, services and staff for the key market, Saigontourist has promoted theVietnamese tourism via tourism fairsand seminars in Russia, for instance MITT in Russia, one of the world’s biggest tourism fairs, said Vo AnhTai, vice general director of Saigontourist Holding Company. Russia is one of the key tourism markets of Vietnam as well as Saigontourist. As of September, some 478,168 Russian travelers had come to Vietnam, up 5.1% year-on-year. HCMC alone welcomed 100,000 Russian tourists.
