Saigontourist Group promotes tourism in the Southeast Region.
Pham Huy Binh, chairman of member council of Saigontourist Group, said beautiful landscapes, cultural and historic relics, traditional festivals and unique local arts are the strengths of the southeast region with which the tourism industry can be boosted. The issue is how to combine all these strengths to create the synergism, though.
Measures for coordinating efforts were the main point in the tourism development cooperation program between HCMC and five provinces in the southeast region. They were discussed by experts and related agencies at a conference taking place in Tay Ninh Province last week.
At the event, the authorities from the six localities in the southeast region of Vietnam signed a cooperation agreement for the 2020-2025 period and endorsed a plan to combine efforts to develop tourism in the region during 2020-2021.
Prior to the event, travel firms in HCMC and some experts had surveyed destinations and tourism services in five provinces – Ba Ria – Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc and Tay Ninh – on June 10-12 and June 15-16.
Subsequently, the parties involved have designed three “model tours” of the region with HCMC being the center of the whole region.
While on two-day tours of HCMC, Binh Duong and Tay Ninh, tourists will visit rubber plantations built in the French colonial period, Dau Tieng Reservoir, Thai Son Pagoda, Cau Mountain, Cao Dai Temple, Ba Den Mountain and enjoy Hoang Ngoc tea.
Meanwhile, the two-day HCMC-Binh Duong-Binh Phuoc tour will take tourists to Ta Thiet historic relic, a French-built rubber plantation, My Le Park, Thai Son Pagoda, Cau Mountain and Dau Tieng Reservoir. The two-day HCMC-Dong Nai-Ba Ria-Vung Tau tour features O Island, Tan Trieu pomelo village, the weapon museum, Ho May tourist site, Go Gang Island, Long Son Big House nad Marine Marina.
These new tours will be introduced by Saigontourist Group on the HCMC Tourism Day 2020 in July.
Connection and investment.
Saigontourist Group will play the vital role in effectively developing sustainable tourism products in the region via programs to develop tourism in HCMC and other provinces in the southeast region during 2020-2025.
According to Pham Huy Binh, chairman of Saigontourist Group, the southeast region boasts the country’s biggest market including attractive destinations. Aside from HCMC, the company will take hundreds of thousands of tourists to the region’s five provinces.
Saigontourist Group has put into service a great deal of hotels and resorts in the region, such as Saigon-Binh Chau Resort, Saigon-Ho Coc Resort and Saigon-Con Dao Resort. Especially, Minera Hot Springs Binh Chau was put into operation on June 13. The 12-hectare tourist site is worth over VND2 trillion in investment.
Saigontourist Travel Service Company, an affiliate of Saigontourist Group, has also launched its offices in Vung Tau, Dong nai and Binh Duong. The company is offering tours to the southeast region by land and by air.

The program to develop tourism in the southeast region includes four main points, including tourism product development, promotion, human resource development and infrastructure.

Saigontourist Group has worked with tourism departments in the region to upgrade existing tourism products and offer new products that cater to market segments and the world’s tourism trends. Currently, Saigontourist Travel Service Company is offering dozens of itineraries of the southeast region. The company is determined to launch at least three new tours of the region each year.
The group will promote its brand in tourism events and fairs in HCMC and the region, and local tourism products and services to the world through local and international media, Saigontourist’s partners and international tourism events and fairs.
Saigontourist Hospitality College and Saigontourist’s members offer training courses in the southeast region. In addition, Saigontourist gives priority to candidates graduateing form hospitality schools in the region and coordinates with tourism vocational schools to develop human resource for Saigontourist.
Saigontourist Group is upgrading infrastructure and services and its hotels and resorts and seeking investors for projects in the region.
The program to develop tourism in the southeast region is expected to promote regional tourism advantages, strengthen ties among cities and provinces and help restore local tourism after the Covid-19 epidemic.
Inaugurated in August 1975, Saigontourist Group is now managing more than 100 travel companies, hotels, resorts, restaurants, and entertainment areas nationwide. Every year, the company receives about three million tourists and earns revenue of VND 22.5 trillion and profit of VDN5 trillion, paying tax of more than VND 4.5 trillion.
