Saigontourist’s Achievements In 2019

 

Last year, Saigontourist Group welcomed and served almost 3.02 million tourists, up 6.4% compared to 2018, including nearly 1.86 million in-house guests, rising 6.8% over 2018 and more than 1.13 million travelers, up 5.7% compared to 2018. Saigontourist Group earned a total revenue of VND20.85 trillion in 2019, picking up 4.7% over 2018, with the total gross profit of VND 4.73 trillion, an increase of 4.8% year-on-year.

According to some experts, inthe context of increasingly fierce competition, the above mentioned result is optimistic. Saigontourist Group’s outstanding units during 2019 are Saigontourist Travel, Continental Hotel, Saigontourist Hospitality College, Majestic Mong Cai Hotel, Saigon-Ha Long Hotel, Saigon-Morin Hue Hotel, Saigon-Mui Ne Resort, Saigon-Ninh Chu Resort, Saigon-Binh Chau Resort, Saigon-Vine Long Hotel, Saigon-Rach Gia Hotel, A&B Development Joint Stock Co., Saigontourist Cable Television Co.,New World Saigon Hotel, Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC), Que Huong Liberty Joint Stock Co., etc.

The business result of the group in 2019 came from the product development strategy, and services and quality improvement, which are measures the group has assigned to its subsidiaries. They contributed to the competitive process, meeting the needs of customers at home and abroad. As regards the travel sector. Saigontourist Travel has introduced IKO Travel and Premium Travel. Premium Travel products are now one of the strengths of Saigontourist Travel, popular in Vietnam and worldwide. Last year, the company served 310,000 cruise ship passengers, earning VND135 billion in revenue. 

Branding, marketing and development 

Branding, marketing and development activities have been boosted to support business activities. Tet Festival and Nguyen Hue Flower Street 2019 was one of the highlights of Saigontourist last year. That was the 16th year Saigontourist Group had been assigned to host the event which attract large number of visitors, meeting demand for entertainment during Tet (Lunar New Year). 

Saigontourist Group also attended a multitude of travel fairs and eventsin Vietnam and other countries in2019. They were ITB Berlin in Germany, HCMC Tourism Day, VITM Hanoi, “HCMC Days in Saint Petersburg” event, HCMC International Travel Expo, ITB Singapore, WTM London, to name just a few.

The group has worked with media firms to promote the brand Saigontourist Group as well as its members. In addition, the group has also used digital media and social networks to marketing activities. 

Selective investment is a solution for Saigontourist Group’s long-term development strategy, including investment, facility upgrading and outward investment. In 2019, Saigontourist Group invested in many projects with a total investment of thousands of billions of dong under international standards to meet the diverse needs of customers.

Some notable investment projects in 2019 of the group were Majestic Hotel expansion, phase two of Hall B at SECC and the grand opening of Saigon - Ba Be Resort. Also, the group successfully completed last year a project to renovate the fountain which is part of phase one of the project to redesign architectural landscape of Le Loi Boulevard approved by the HCMC government. 

Cooperation for development

In order to improve competitiveness, enhance business cooperation and marketing, Saigontourist Group last year developed ecosystem products and services in hospitality, travel, entertainment, training and other supporting industries. Notably, the cooperation between accommodation and travel gained impressive results. 

Implementing the stimulus program entitled “Booking Saigontourist Travel’s Tours, Using Services of Saigontourist’s Hotels and Resorts,” Saigontourist Travel signed cooperation agreements with 70 units under Saigontourist Group. As a result, lastyear, Saigontourist Travel brought 41,255 visitors to hotels and resorts,earning sales of VND 69.7 billion.

The connection between units in the system contributed to a strong growth in number of customers and revenue compared to the previous time. Saigontourist Travel has introduced new tours of destinations where Saigontourist’s hotels and resorts are located. 

Cooperation programs sealed by Saigontourist Group and Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Bac Ninh and Quang Ninh provinces have enabled the group’s subsidiaries to develop many new products to meet the diverse needs of domestic and international visitors.

“Saigontourist for Community”

Aside from focusing on business efficiency, Saigontourist Group also cares about corporate social responsibility via the “Saigontourist for Community” program. In 2019, the group spent over VND5 billion on many major social programs. For instance, the14th Mid-Autumn Festival gave 1,000 gifts to disadvantaged children in Quang Ninh Province; gifts were given to children of Saigontourist staff members; donations for some localities such as Hanoi, Bac Kan, Phu Tho, Cao Bang and Dak Lak. 

The group also organized a program calling for employees to contribute at least a day’s salary to support poor people. In addition, Saigontourist Golf Tournament 2019 raised VND600 million, equivalent to 500 scholarships for disadvantaged students in Long An, Ben Tre and TraVinh provinces and HCMC’s Can Gio District.
