FOOD AND CULTURE FESTIVAL 2023 SET TO KICK OFF IN APRIL

The “Food and Culture Festival 2023” by Saigontourist Group will last four consecutive days, from April 20 to 23, 2023, at Van Thanh Tourist Village in HCMC. Last year, the event was held at the end of August 2022, with the participation of over 30,000 visitors.

“We are honored that the Saigontourist Group Food and Culture Festival 2022 was crowned Asia’s Best Culinary Festival 2022 by the World Culinary Awards. This year, the festival will return on a larger and more impressive scale. This is one of Saigontourist Group’s key programs to showcase Vietnam’s diverse and rich cuisine to domestic and international visitors. It promotes HCMC as an attractive destination for culinary and cultural events”, said Pham Huy Binh, chairman of Saigontourist Group and head of the program’s steering committee.

The Food and Culture Festival 2023 will feature three areas, including North, Central, and South, with 40 food stalls from 40 subsidiaries of Saigontourist Group nationwide. It will serve over 6000 seats at once. Additionally, the organizers will introduce street food trucks as a new highlight for this year’s event.
This festival will continue to be a center of culinary excellent in the three regions of Vietnam. Saigontourist Group’s four-and five-star hotels, resorts, and restaurants in HCMC and other provinces will bring over 350 special dishes and beverages, the skills of experienced chefs, and traditional handicrafts to the festival. Guests will be able to enjoy dishes prepared by luxury hotel chefs in HCMC or Saigontourist Group’s premium four-or five-star hotels and resorts in provinces and cities across the country.

Along with 40 subsidiaries of the Saigontourist Group, this festival attracts the participation of other agencies from Ben Tre, Tay Ninh , and Vietnam Airlines. A representative from Tay Ninh Province will introduce some vegetarian delicacies, while Ben Tre Province will bring to the festival delicious specialties from the land of coconut trees. Vietnam Airlines is set to offer unique dishes for passengers on long-haul flights.

The design of the fetival space will have positive changes, especially with the representative images of the three regions. The North area will be decorated with the village gate and conical hats. The Central location will create a good impression on visitors with the Hoi An lantern gate, while the South area will be adorned by rice clusters which remind people of the Mekong Delta – the most critical area for rice production in Vietnam. Specifically, the South area will feature 20 old Saigon houses with coffee serving counters, showcasing the unique coffee culture of the city in the past.

This year, the organizes continue to explore and select special dishes with regional characteristics, unique flavors, and comfort food for the festival. Guests who want to enrich their culinary experiences can also search for unique and exotic dishes from each region. Moreover, a special booth will be set up at the festival to serve vegetarian food. In addition to enjoying food and drinks on-site, visitors can take them home or give them to families and friends as gifts.

The festival will feature many cultural activities like art performances, cultural exchanges, folk games, and re-enactments of traditional craft village. Various musical performance like Quan Ho (traditional songs of Bac Ninh), Hue folk songs (typical songs in central provinces), Don Ca Tai Tu (unique songs in the South), monkey dance, Chhay Dam Drumming by Khmer artisans, and Hat Then (songs in the Northwest) will make the festival space more vibrant with cultural traits of different regions.

Also, the festival will showcase the characteristics of ten traditional handicraft villages, including wine-making, tofu-making, vermicelli making, prawn cracker-making, candy-making, traditional cake-making, bamboo weaving, hat weaving, silk weaving, and poterry-making.

The Food and Culture Festival 2023 by Saigontourist Group will be opened from 4p.m. to 10p.m. for four consecutive days, April 20 to 23. Additional lunch service will be provided from 10 a.m. to 2p.m. on April 22 and 23. Any guests who want to join the festival will have to buy tickets at the gates. The ticket price is VND200,000 per adult, while children under 1.4meters tall can enter free of charge. Especially various attractive discounts are offered for early birds.
